Feeling inspired!

I will be the first to admit that since I have relocated to Oregon, I have neglected Planet of Food. I am not going to make excuses, it is purely out of laziness and lack of inspiration. I think as a self-proclaimed artist we often struggle with both laziness and inspiration, it is completely normal.
That being said, i feel recharged, and very inspired and have every intention of paying more attention to all of you, Planet of Foodies. We will be creating new videos beginning the second week of December and you can count on weekly posts, possibly even daily!! In the new year we will finally have our recipes added as well, long overdue!
I am inspired daily by my new beautiful surroundings, my 5 month old nephew, Nelson and the love I feel from my family, friends and my fiancé Scott. All have changed my life in so many positive ways and I want to share it with you. I have also decided after many years to finish culinary school, starting this spring, and all of you will follow me on my journey.
To sum things up, sometimes it takes new surroundings, a new job or one person or finishing a goal to find inspiration. I believe it is out there waiting for you, you just have to find it. I hope you all may feel as excited about life as I do. Stick around and enjoy our new developments on Planet of Food.

A new adventure

Some of you may have noticed that there has not been much activity with Planet of Food. For this i apologize, eventually i will be back making videos, but for now i will be mainly blogging about new food adventures in my new home of portland, oregon!! I moved out here about two weeks ago to be my nephew nelson's nanny.
So as i learn a new roll as nanny, this could inspire some great stories and great new recipes as well! In this short amount of time i have learned so much i did not know about babies, mom's, dad's, diapers, swaddling, crying, love and about myself. I do not have children of my own, so i am a novice at 40! I have never enjoyed a new job orientation as much as i am enjoying this, i look forward to what lies ahead.
On my days off i will be visiting farmers markets, food carts, brew pubs, restaurants, wineries and checking out other local fare, i will be able to share my adventures with you. I will also share the sights that this beautiful city holds as well. I look forward to this new adventure in food and in life! Stay tuned for some great local fare and photos!

A good summer

Hello Everyone! I hope you are surviving the summer heat by sitting poolside or on a beach with an ice cold glass of honey-lemonade. It seems the older i get, the quicker the summer goes by.
I have really enjoyed filming the last few episodes. I feel more comfortable in front of the camera and more comfortable with the content of these episodes. I really like the "themed" episodes, it adds continuity and i like to think you could  use all of these recipes as one whole meal. I would love to hear your thoughts on the "picnic themed" recipes, whether they be successes or failures or any questions regarding planet of food. I have a lot of ideas for future episodes, but would love for you to share recipe ideas as well.
As always, thank you for your support and for watching. Enjoy the rest of your summer and stay tuned for our latest episode coming later this week!

Are you ready for summer?

After a lot of thought and some planning, i have decided the next five episodes will have a common theme and that is picnic food! I will have recipes for desserts, entree's, and side dishes for you to make and share at your next picnic. Most of the recipes are original and some i have borrowed from my mom, all tried and true!
I encourage you to share your own "picnic" recipes and to comment on the recipes i will be sharing with you. I am a huge fan of "picnic" style food and look forward to hearing from all of you. Happy Summer and enjoy!

Ch-Ch-Ch Changes

In the next few weeks, my life and the lives of many people are going to change. My little sister will soon give birth to a baby boy, my brother and his family will be moving to Charleston, my cousin and his family will be moving to New Zealand, and my boyfriend and i will be moving down the hall to a new apartment. I embrace change and happen to think change is very inspiring!

Our next few episodes will be filmed in different locations as we will be doing some traveling. I look forward to what being in a new apartment and a new town will inspire in both of us. So stay tuned and share some of your thoughts about our changes and even changes of your own.

Breakfast is not just for breakfast

When my brother, sister and I were teenagers and home alone in the summer, we would challenge each other to make "the complete breakfast." This usually consisted of toast, eggs, and sometimes sausage or bacon, nothing special. I always volunteered to cook "the complete breakfast" and I always tried to come up with new breakfast concoctions, and I even convinced my mom to get us a non-stick omelet pan and waffle maker. Breakfast, whether it is a "complete breakfast" or not, is still one of my favorite meals. I truly believe breakfast can be served at any time, and breakfast for dinner can be a lot of fun. I remember being so excited when I was a kid and my mom would cook breakfast for dinner. I still get just as excited now as I did back then, and it brings back some fond childhood memories. When my brother, sister and I were teenagers and home alone in the summer, we would challenge each other to make "the complete breakfast."
